The idea behind the popular Director’s Choice and Curator’s Choice series by Scala Arts & Heritage is the subjective selection and presentation of several dozen of the most valuable museum objects, made by the director of the given institution. Many of the world’s major museums now have their own editions; the group of Polish institutions – after the National Museum in Warsaw, to date the only one – is being joined by the Fryderyk Chopin Museum.
Among selected museum objects, we shall find music manuscripts, the composer’s letters, his personal objects and works of art illustrating the reception of the person and work of Chopin – paintings, etchings, sculptures, medals and posters. The volume devoted to the Chopin Museum’s collections is distinguished by a CD, added for the first time in this series, with recordings of selected works by the composer on period instruments, supplementing the presentation of the museum objects. The publication was published in four languages: Polish, English, French and Japanese.
