Professor Irena Poniatowska’s book is a collection of ten essays written in the last few years, in which she looks at Chopin's music from one perspective: through its reception and resonance in European culture.
The newly published volume includes texts in which the music of Fryderyk Chopin, its reception and resonance, is analysed with the use of modern musicological tools. The author concentrates on four genres: preludes, studies, mazurkas and songs. Each of them is shown in a special perspective, following the guiding principle of this book, and set against a surprisingly high number of comparisons.
Professor Poniatowska’s volume is a very valuable new publication in the filed of chopinology.
