The author looked into various aspects of the phenomenon of Chopin’s music and its paradoxical nature, such as its universality, poetical undertone, detachment from the era and embodiment of romanticism, as well as the way it is anchored in the reality and enrooted in Polish tradition. He unveiled the connection between the work of the artist, his biography and the ‘romantic fraternity’, including, i.a., Berlioz, Liszt, Mendelssohn, Heine, Schumann. A closer look at composer’s personality, his attitude towards faith and relationships with George Sand in the context of her novel ‘Lucrezia Floriani’ is also present in the book.
