The Variations on ‘Là ci darem la mano’, Op. 2 is an extremely important work in the Chopin oeuvre, as his first composition to be published by a leading European publisher. This is the Stichvorlage manuscript (a clean copy of the piano part) that Chopin sent from Warsaw to Haslinger. It has been held since 1830 in the Österreichische Nationalbibliothek in Vienna. This volume includes a source commentary by Dr Norbert Müllemann.
