The edition reproduces the only known holograph of Tarantella, Op. 43, currently kept at Fryderyk Chopin Museum in Warsaw. Another known source of this work is the copy prepared by Julian Fontana for the publisher E. Troupenas & Co.
Fryderyk Chopin started working on this piece probably in Paris and finished it just after arriving in Nohant in June 1841. Tarantella is completely different from other compositions from this stage and occupies a marginal place in the composer’s output. The holograph was sent by Chopin to Fontana, then saved by the copyist and inherited by his heirs. On 3rd December 20008 it was bought by The Fryderyk Chopin Institute and included in the collection of Fryderyk Chopin Museum in Warsaw. The publication contains a source commentary by Marita Albán Juárez.
