Fryderyk Chopin, Mazurka, Op. 63 No. 1

There are very few surviving manuscript sources for the Mazurkas, Op. 63. The autograph reproduced in the present edition is held in the Bibliothèque nationale de France and consists of a single double leaf. It is the only extant manuscript of the whole of the Mazurka in B major, No. 1 from Op. 63. 

The autograph of the first mazurka was certainly intended as the Stichvorlage for the French first edition. It should be stressed, however, that the first edition contains not only crucial changes in respect to the autograph, but even several additional bars in the coda.
