A double album with recordings of Jakub Kuszlik – 4th Prize winner at the most recent Chopin Competition – is the newest publication in the so-called Blue Series, showcasing the most interesting personalities in the subsequent editions of the Competition. The highest-ranked Polish pianist of the 18th Competition, further distinguished with the Polish Radio special prize for the best performance of Chopin’s mazurkas, performed, among other pieces, Waltzes, Op. 34, the Scherzo in C sharp minor, Op. 39, the Polonaise in F sharp minor, Op. 44, the Fantasy in F minor, Op. 49, Mazurkas, Op. 30, the Sonata in B minor, op. 58, and the Piano concerto in E minor, Op. 11 (with the Warsaw Philharmonic Symphonic Orchestra under the baton of Andrzej Boreyko).

Warsaw in October 2021 was home to consummate piano musicianship. The 18th Chopin Competition brought together the superbly talented virtuosos and was certainly one of the best in the nearly 100 years of the event’s history. Now those special moments can be recalled thanks to the recordings released by the Chopin Institute.
